The Downeast League of Women Voters will sponsor a series of three public meetings focusing on the Brookings Institution/Grow Smart study released this Fall, “Charting Maine’s Future: An Action Plan for Promoting Sustainable Prosperity and Quality Places."

The report is available on the GrowSmart website www.brookings.edu/metro/maine. The report can also be ordered through Grow Smart ME for $10.00 (207)847-9275.

The League of Women Voters has not taken a position on the report or its recommendations but is interested in stimulating a Hancock County dialogue on the issues. All meetings are open to the public.

Saturday, January 13th, 1:00 – 3:30 PM Ellsworth City Hall Council Chambers features Alan Caron, President of GrowSmart ME and sponsor of the report, who will give a presentation outlining the report and its suggested solutions. 

Saturday, February 17th, l:00 – 3:30 PM Ellsworth City Hall Auditorium, Hancock County legislators have been invited to engage in a panel discussion of the proposed GrowSmart legislation implementing the report’s recommendations.

Saturday, March 24th, 1:00 – 3:30 PM Ellsworth City Council Chambers features a panel of  local and county officials and planners to discuss the pros and cons of implementing the report’s conclusions on the local level.
