Eastern Maine Economic Development Presentations

Three presentations are scheduled for understanding economic development in downeast Maine. This is part of the Comprehesive Economic Development Strategy workshop for Eastern Maine. The public is cordially invited.

Local Industry Clusters
March 22, 12 – 2 pm
Ellsworth Public Library, Ellsworth
Charlie Colgan, a professor at the University of Southern Maine’s Muskie School, will define industry clusters, describe how they function in Eastern Maine, and explain why they are important to Maine’s economy.

International Northeast Economic Region - The New Economic Development Region
April 26, 12 – 1:30 pm
Bangor Public Library, Bangor
Andy Hamilton and Tim Woodcock, attorneys at Eaton Peabody and members of the board of the East-West Highway Association will define INER and discuss its important role in economic development.

Niche Tourism: An Economic Development Strategy

The tourism industry is growing in Maine. Hear from Roger Merchant, an Extension educator and Maine Guide whose expertise focuses on sustainable rural development through community-based, nature and cultural heritage tourism.
