Topic: IMMIGRATION ISSUES

LWVUS (national League) is currently studying immigration issues and has prepared a series of draft papers.  Several Downeast members have volunteered to read these and report on them to the lunch meeting. 

Among other topics we’ll discuss

• an overview of federal immigration policy and enforcement,
• the economics of immigration,
• what motivates immigration,
• diversity and inclusion issues concerning immigration, and
• how immigration relates to the effects of global interdependence

If you’d like to report on something you’ve read about immigration issues (either national or local), please bring the article or book with you.  If you’ve not read anything on these topics, come to listen and join in the discussion - it’s sure to be interesting and lively!
