Health and Planning Track Announced for September 15 Planning Conference in Bar Harbor
The Hancock County Planning Commission is helping to plan a Conference of the Norther New England Chapter of the American Planning Association in Bar Harbor on September 15-16, 2005. The conference will feature a range of topics related to planning our rural and urban places.
Of particular note will be a one day series of presentations relating urban and regional planning to health. Speakers will be presenting findings from initiatives in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine to increase quality of life in our communities, providing safer places to walk and bicycle, encouraging locally grown food, findings
The feature speaker will be Helen Mahan, Project Officer, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Active Living by Design Project, UNC School of Public Health, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
