History

Peninsula Tomorrow started in March 2002 when a group of residents on the Blue Hill Peninsula, inspired by similar efforts in Hancock County, organized a gathering at the South Blue Hill Grange Hall. The goal was to bring neighbors together to discuss what they valued about life on the peninsula and what concerns they had. Common themes from the conversations were a shared appreciation for the region’s natural beauty and strong community, as well as concerns about balancing the preservation of these qualities with the need for a healthy economy. From this meeting, Peninsula Tomorrow was established as a forum for discussing regional issues and for creating a shared vision for the future of the Blue Hill Peninsula.
